Why wowkwis?
UK Body, Canadian Mind
My connection to Canada comes from my maternal side. My grandfather was Canadian, born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Although I never met him, his Canadian heritage has always been a part of our family history. My mother spent nearly a two decades of her childhood growing up in Canada before relocating to the UK.
I've visited Canada several times, where I developed a love for traditional Poutine from Quebec—one of my all-time favourite dishes. Another treat I always look forward to is BeaverTails, with the BANANARAMA being my favourite and some TimBits! While I'm not particularly interested in UK sports, I'm a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL and the Toronto Blue Jays in the MLB.
The name Wowkwis (pronounced: woah-kwiss) means "fox" in Mi'kmaq (pronounced: mick-mak), the language of the First Nation Tribe from the Nova Scotia area. I chose this name to honor the people and culture of the region, even though I may never fully know my Canadian family.
A Bit About Me
Part-time App Developer, Full-time Teacher
Hello! I'm an independent app developer with extensive experience in mobile app development, and a dedicated teacher. I specialise in teaching Computer Science, Information Technology, and Media Studies to students aged 11-19.
Based in the UK, I've been publishing apps since 2020. I create apps that I’m passionate about, whether they support my students or bring fun and entertainment through games.
I pride myself in completing the entire project. Starting with an idea, developing the code, the design through to the final product before launch.
If you have an idea for an app, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out by starting a chat.
